e2v technologies has won two contract renewals with radiotherapy cancer treatment systems OEMs worth a total of £17m.

e2v's products generate the microwave power required by the radiotherapy machine's linear accelerator to produce X-rays used in both the imaging and radiation treatment of tumours.

Keith Attwood, Chief Executive of e2v said: "These anticipated multi-year contract renewals reflect the ongoing demand for new systems, as well as the need to service the growing number of in-service systems, and reinforces our position as a strategic supplier into the global radiotherapy equipment market".

In October 2008 e2v acquired US-based QP semiconductor, a designer and supplier of specialty semiconductor components used in military and aerospace applications, establishing the Chelmsford company's first US manufacturing base.

e2v has approximately 1800 employees in six production facilities across Europe and North America.
