Mike Macnamee Chief Executive of Bourn Hall Limited is delighted to announce that the company has acquired Essex based ISIS Fertility Centre from its founding shareholders.

Bourn Hall Clinic, the world’s first and best-known assisted conception clinic, was established in 1980 by IVF pioneers Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards. It remains one of the UK’s leading fertility clinics. In 2005, Mike Macnamee led a management buyout from Bourn Hall’s Swiss pharmaceutical parent company Serono. The MBO was very successful and the clinic has expanded.
ISIS Fertility was established in Colchester in 1999 to provide fertility treatment for patients in Essex and South Suffolk. Following the deal it will become Bourn Hall Clinic Colchester.
The Colchester clinic will provide a full fertility service including all treatments up to and including embryo-transfer, and is the first fully owned satellite clinic to be established by Bourn Hall. It will treat both private and NHS funded patients.
The new clinic will embrace the clinical team from the former Isis Fertility Centre. Sarah Pallett, appointed as Clinic Manager for Bourn Hall Clinic Colchester, is enthusiastic about the developments. "Becoming part of Bourn Hall is an excellent development opportunity for us as individuals. I am excited by the prospect of working closely with some of the most experienced fertility experts in the world, sharing knowledge and best practice."
Commenting on the deal Mike Macnamee said, “"Bourn Hall has always been at the forefront of IVF treatment and patients are assured of world class expertise. By establishing a clinic in Colchester we can deliver this quality of treatment nearer to home for couples locally, and also develop closer relationships with other caregivers in the community.
“I would like to thank Lake Falconer at PEM Corporate Finance for helping us to put the deal together.”
Lake Falconer of PEM Corporate Finance commented, “We are pleased to have been able to help Bourn Hall Limited to acquire another East Anglian Business. ISIS is well positioned geographically and will enable Bourn Hall to provide its high quality service to couples in the East and South of the region. It shows that despite the recession there are deals to be done where there is a good strategic fit between purchaser and acquirer.”
Neil Burton at Mills & Reeves in Cambridge provided legal advice to Bourn Hall.
