Former Government Higher Education Minister of State, Bill Rammell will take over the Vice Chancellor role at the University Of Bedfordshire from Professor Les Ebdon in August.
Professor Ebdon is retiring from the University to take up a new position as Director of Fair Access to Higher Education at the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).Rammell, who is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor at Plymouth University, said: "I am delighted to be joining Bedfordshire at such an exciting time for both the University and the higher education sector. I am well acquainted with the University and have watched its reputation grow over recent years. The University excels at widening participation, transforming lives and communities. I look forward to building on its success."
During his time as Higher Education Minister, Rammell oversaw the introduction of the current fees regime, championed widening access and led the Prime Minister's Initiative for the Globalisation of Higher Education.
