Kenyan athletes turn to UK clinic

Into Africa for Woodside Clinic’s Pratik Visaria, Zoe Benn and Lucy Baker

A UK clinic has been hired for the first time to look after top Kenyan athletes.

Woodside Clinic, which has bases in Bedfordshire and Essex, has won an historic contract to provide osteopathy and physiotherapy services to the Kenyan team training for the All Africa Games.

Pratik Visaria, director of the Woodside Clinic group, and physiotherapists Zoe Benn and Lucy Baker fly out to Nairobi for the two-week training camp.

Woodside hopes the current deal will be followed through with another contract for the London Olympics next year.

Visaria said “Ever since it was announced that Britain was to host the 2012 Olympics I wanted to get involved. Many of the Kenyan squad competing at the All Africa Games will be at the 2012 Olympics in London.

“Through a long process we became known and trusted by the Kenyan National Team and for the first time ever a British-based clinic has been invited to look after their top athletes.

“It is also a training opportunity as we will be sharing our expertise with the Kenyan national team therapists who want to achieve the high standards set by Woodside Clinic.”

Woodside has East of England clinics in Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Harlow.
