The Business Weekly Awards 2011 reflect the dynamic face of the Cambridge and East of England economies – from the exciting start-up culture and excellent Cambridge University spin-outs to the diverse range of BioMedTech, CleanTech, Wireless and manufacturing/industrial businesses at different stages of their life cycles.
There will be eight distinct Awards in the 2011 competition, defined as follows:-
STARTUP BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For the most exciting startup enterprise in any sector founded in the last 12 months.
BIOMEDTECH BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For the BioMedTech company that has made the most commercial progress in the last 12 months: BioMedTech covers biotech, pharma, medical devices or diagnostics, healthcare or general Life Sciences.
CLEANTECH BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For the CleanTech business that has most most commercial progress in the last 12 months. CleanTech covers any environmentally friendly technology that produces more energy efficient performance; from renewable energy to smart meters, detectors and lighting technologies.
WIRELESS BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For the wireless sector businesses that has made most commercial progress in the last 12 months.
CAMBRIDGE GRADUATE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For a company founded by a Cambridge University alumnus at least three years out of academia that has demonstrated outstanding commercial progress.
CSR AWARD
For the most significant contribution to society, charity or the community.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE
For a company in any industry that has launched or expanded its international operations in the past 12 months or significantly broadened its access to global markets with new products or services.
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For a company in any industry sector that has had a stand-out 12 months for strength of management, strategic enterprise and commercial success.
