A Russian trade delegation visiting the UK on Valentine’s Day aims to embrace the Cambridge CleanTech community.
The new Cambridge Cleantech membership organisation is hosting an ‘Energy Efficiency’ breakfast at the Moller Centre for visitors from Skolkovo, Russia’s new innovation hub.Potential collaboration opportunities will be on the menu.
Martin Garratt, chief executive of Cambridge Cleantech said: “We are delighted to be hosting this trade mission from Skolkovo which is a rapidly developing international innovation hub outside of Moscow, incorporating an energy efficiency cluster.
“The breakfast event will provide an overview of the potential opportunities of working with companies from the energy cluster.”
The event follows on from Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to Russia last September, accompanied by a business delegation headed up by Lord Green, saw UK-Russia collaboration in hi-tech sectors and research and commercial partnerships at the top of the agenda
Senior executives from the Skolkovo Foundation will visit London on February 14 and 15 and the Cambridge event is part of the programme.
The roadshow will showcase opportunities for UK universities, institutes and businesses to gain funding from Skolkovo through joint research/commercial projects in five key areas: Space & Telecoms, IT, Nuclear, Biomedical; Energy Efficiency.
The Energy Efficiency Cluster sets Russia's sights on improving its record of energy efficiency by developing cutting-edge technologies that allow more energy to be produced from fewer resources.
In order to fulfill its ambitions, the cluster will focus on the key technological developments and innovations in energy generation, electricity transmission, heat transmission, domestic energy efficiency, industrial energy efficiency and 'green energy'.
