Ubisense, the Cambridge UK and Denver based location technology business, is partnering a German IT company to build business in the North American oil & gas segment.
Ubisense becomes distributor of Geomagic’s software products in North America – improving the offering to its own clients while opening up new markets outside Europe for its German ally. The Cambridge and Colorado company already delivers mission-critical enterprise asset tracking and geospatial systems. It believes Geomagic’s software can help boost both partners’ customer portfolios in the segment across Canada and the US.
Geomagic provides software unique in the market for pipeline integrity assessment, asset management and asset service, as well as work management – all with functionality for audit-proof storage and documentation.
Dave Harris, senior vice-president Americas operations at Ubisense said: “The dynamic nature of pipeline regulatory compliance requires software that can change with the regulations.
“The Ubisense-Geomagic partnership will provide our customers with a proven suite of flexible tools already in use by eight pipeline and utility companies. We are thrilled to bring Geomagic’s product solutions and industry expertise to the North American market.”
The Geomagic products offer easy integration with GE Smallworld and flexible configuration options which are important factors for future success with the partnership.
Geomagic specialises in software solutions for operators of oil and gas pipelines and last year had sales of € 3.9 million.
Besides being active in the German market, Geomagic currently has projects in the US, Switzerland, Poland and the Netherlands. It also has a development partnership with GE Energy, which maintains a wide range of international projects and distribution networks.
Ubisense’s location technology provides more than 500 customers worldwide with unprecedented visibility of – and control over – previously intractable business processes.
