Cambridge coding & marking giant Domino Printing Sciences is planning to create around 400 new jobs over the next 10 years - many of which will be in manufacturing.
The extent of the projected growth depends on Domino being able to extend its current site at Bar Hill in the UK. It wants to build a new, state-of-the-art production, warehouse and office facility.
Managing director Nigel Bond today began a charm offensive withresidents and businesses in Bar Hill and Lolworth by unveiling an exhibition that laid out the proposals in detail. Bond said: "Due to our success and continuous growth, we have outgrown our headquarters at Bar Hill. We have and continue to explore many options, one of which is to develop a new production, warehouse and office building adjacent to our current site.
"To have all our local staff in one location will be a real benefit to our business, providing an opportunity to significantly enhance the efficiency of our operations within a single building.
"We hope local residents will visit our exhibition, which will be an excellent opportunity for us to hear their views and explain more about our proposed development. We will take the feedback into account before submitting our planning application later this year."
The blueprint involves developing a 10-acre site next door to its current headquarters on farmland at the western edge of Bar Hill industrial estate. Under the plans a new global headquarters will be created, with the company's production, warehouse and research and development facilities all housed on one extended plot. The new building is designed to accommodate Domino's expected growth over the next 25 years.
Should Domino be granted planning permission, it hopes to start building work on site a few months later. Construction is expected to take 18 months.
Domino has organised exhibitions over two days to showcase their proposals and seek feedback from the public prior to submitting a planning application for their proposed development later this year. They are taking place today from 1 to 7pm at The Octagon Centre, Hanover Close, Bar Hill CB23 8EH and Saturday 24 September from 10.30am to 3pm at Bar Hill Village Hall, The Spinney, Bar Hill CB23 8SU.
There will be the chance to talk to the Domino project team including UK operations director Nick Stanbury and group operations director Rachel Hurst. Alternatively, you can find out more if you log on to www.dominobarhill.co.uk (from 1pm on Friday 23 September).
