Cambridge duo in semiconductor summit

David Baillie CEO of CamSemi

Cambridge entrepreneurs David Baillie and Stan Boland are key figures leading a debate on semiconductor industry financing at a Geneva summit next week.

Baillie, CEO of CamSemi, will chair one of the key sessions at the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) European Executive Forum (May 8-9).The panel discussion on May 9 will review the challenges faced by industry executives in securing the necessary finance to take new businesses through from initial funding and product development to profitability and delivering on an exit strategy.

Baillie will draw on his own experiences at CamSemi, as well as those of a panel of four industry experts.

They include former Acorn and Element14 boss Stan Boland, senior VP for mobile communications, NVIDIA and previously CEO and co-founder of Icera which was acquired by NVIDIA in June 2011 for $367 million cash.

Others on the panel are Dennis Segers, CEO of Tabula Inc. which has raised $214m in VC funding; Remy de Tonnac, CEO of INSIDE Secure which completed a successful IPO in February this year to raise $93m; and Marc Steifman, head of technology investment banking at Piper Jaffray & Co, whose team has advised on over 155 Technology, Media and Telecomms deals with an aggregate value of $24 billion.

This year’s GSA European event will target three key themes: power management; perspectives on industry trends; and successful funding and exit strategies in the current economy.
