Seventh heaven as global carmaker buys more Ubisense software

Ubisense CEO Richard Green

A global automotive manufacturer has extended deployment of the Ubisense Smart Factory System to a seventh production line.

The Cambridge UK tracking technology business says the additional contract is down to significant time and cost saving efficiencies inherent in the solution.

The Ubisense system is already operational in six of the manufacturer’s facilities worldwide, spanning Europe, North America and Asia.

This expansion takes the total number of vehicles tracked to over 1.3 million a year across all seven production lines.

Ubisense CEO Richard Green said the system runs seamlessly with the global automotive manufacturer’s Manufacturing Execution System. It also integrates into functions from assembly line tool tracking, assembly control, offline tracing, yard management, container management, tote-tracking and line-side supply, and is one of the most advanced suites of Ubisense Smart Factory applications in the world.

Green said: “This deal provides further evidence of the real return on investments our systems bring. In the assembly operation alone, manufacturers can save up to one hour per station per day, which is essential in today’s competitive manufacturing environment.

“The proven ROIs continue to be a key driver in the widespread adoption of our real time location intelligence platform supporting Smart Factory implementations to manufacturers around the globe.”
