Strutt & Parker, a doyen among residential and commercial property agents and headquartered in Mayfair, is opening a multi-disciplined office in Cambridge UK.
The move – earmarked for early 2013 – completes a long-awaited ambition for the firm. But there is a new twist. While Business Weekly revealed some time ago that Cambridge was on the radar it was thought then to be simply a residential property hub.
Now Strutt & Parker intends to include rural, residential, planning, development and commercial specialisms to the mix, according to a spokesperson.
Strutt & Parker confirmed that the Cambridge city centre office was coming on board; it is understood that the firm has taken 4,500 sq ft of space at 66-68 Hills Road – Cambridge’s property hotspot.
Strutt & Parker is a seriously strong operator and its arrival in Cambridge is a massive show of faith in the cluster, which is more recession-proof than most UK cities.
More than 150 staff operate from the London head office alone. It is not yet known how many professionals will be based in Cambridge.
