Think Product Design in Cambridge is expanding its services and reach through a new partnership with Singapore-based manufacturing and design consultancy Karuma.
TPD will provide design services to Karuma’s European clients, while local companies will benefit from access to cost-effective Far Eastern manufacturing through Karuma’s network of more than 100 suppliers.
To be formally announced at the MedTec UK show in Birmingham on April 6, the alliance provides an end-to-end solution from concept design through to mass manufacture.
The new launch adds to Think Product Design’s comprehensive portfolio of services for companies of all sizes, from start-ups to established businesses.
Karuma has over 15 years of expertise in consumer and medical device design, and has created and manufactured over 50 million devices.
Working with companies of all sizes it has a proven track record in areas including healthcare/medical, sat navs, consumer products, lighting and mobile phones.
“Design is at the heart of today’s successful products, but is something that many Far Eastern manufacturers have neglected in the past,” said Tim Evans, managing director, Think Product Design.
“The addition of European design skills to Karuma’s proven manufacturing capabilities provides the complete solution for companies from both Asia and the UK. This partnership will strengthen international ties, bring product to markets faster, empower innovation and reduce risk and cost.”

All of these proven and trusted tier 1 suppliers have worked extensively with Karuma, meaning that IP and confidentiality are 100 per cent guaranteed.
“Our partnership with Think Product Design provides us with valuable skills that will help our clients, as well as giving us a European presence in one of the UK’s most innovative technology hubs,” said Ashley Sayed, managing director, Karuma.
“We share a common approach and dedication to accelerating the process of bringing innovative and well-designed products to market and our alliance will benefit companies in both Europe and Asia.”
