2008 - British Sugar


Peterborough based British Sugar is the leading supplier of sugar to the UK market. Its products are represented in the leading brands of all the major global food and drink manufacturers. The British Sugar Corporation was formed in 1936, when the British parliament nationalised the entire sugar beet crop processing industry. It was sold in 1991 to Associated British Foods. Last year British Sugar recorded revenue of £1.94bn. It is doing wonderful work internationally, notably in China, and creating whole self-sufficient communities around beet or cane production
