English Whisky to roll out the barrel in USA
2013 will see Norfolk-based English Whisky moving to more countries – the most notable being the US.
After several years of battling government bureaucracy the company has finally received permission to sell its whisky in the United States. At present the launch is planned for April, according to managing director Andrew Nelstrop.
While Japan was the first international market to be conquered, English Whisky also exports to France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Canada and Singapore.
Nelstrop says that 2012 has been a vintage year for the St George’s distillery, Roudham, business – boosted by one national celebration after another.
“This year has seen a steady growth in sales, helped a lot by the amazing year that was 2012. What an extraordinary year! The Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics spawned sell out bottlings. We also launched Chapter 12 in cask strength and 46 per cent – the cask strength sold out in just a few hours.
“We also released some Founders Private Cellar bottlings. Again this has sold in record time, with just a few of the Peated Sauterne left.”
The Nelstrop family has a 600 year old tradition of growing and processing grain.
