Star speakers unveiled for Cambridge China Forum 2019

Cambridge China Forum 2019 will draw leading technologists, entrepreneurs and executives to the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre in Hinxton on 15-16 October.  

Focusing on the theme of ‘UK|China Investment and Trade – Science and Technology Forefronts’, the Forum’s co-organisers, Cambridge China Centre and TusPark UK, have just released a list of key speakers that provides a 50/50 balance of representatives based in China and the UK. 

The guest speakers from China comprise of an impressive list of leaders and founders of top Chinese science park and technology investment organisations, high-level government representatives and experts from the banking and accounting sectors.

Scheduled to speak on UK|China trade and relations will be the Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Liu Xiaoming. Prior to becoming the Ambassador to the UK in 2009, Mr Liu has had a long and distinguished diplomatic career. His experience and insight include two decades in the United States.

A very special guest will be Professor Mei Meng, the founder of TusPark with Tsinghua University in 1994. Mr. Mei has since remained the director of the TusPark development centre. 

As the chairman of TusHoldings Company, Mr. Mei is actively engaged in the development, construction and management of the international science park network of TusPark as well as large venture capital investments within China. 

His attendance at the Cambridge China Forum is a unique opportunity to learn about how Cambridge fits within the growing TusPark network and his vision of technology for global prosperity. 

Adding to the Impact Investing section of Cambridge China Forum will be Mr. Wang Chengwen, Professor of the Environmental Science Department at Tsinghua University.  

An expert on environment, development and investment, he has additional roles as Director of Environmental Impact Assessment Office of Tsinghua University, Vice-President of Qing Control Habitat Construction (Group) Co., and Dean of Beijing Guohuan Tsinghua Environmental Engineering Design and Research Institute.

Bringing expertise on UK|China finance will be Dr Ian Zhu, head of China Outbound Investment at Grant Thornton LLP, one of the world’s leading organisations of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms. 

Speakers from Cambridge and the UK will include Lord Stephen Green (Former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, and former chairman of HSBC), Matthew Bullock (Master of St Edmund’s College), John Bridge (chief executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce), Jeanette Walker (director of Cambridge Science Park), Professor Chris Lowe (director of the Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences) and Jinzhao Li (director of Cambridge China Centre).
