Anglia Ruskin’s Helmore Building, on East Road in Cambridge

Anglia Ruskin University has joined forces with the Institute of Export & International Trade (IoE) to offer an innovative export degree.

The new qualification, which is also available as a one-year Cert HE, brings together current industry knowledge with academic theory and skills, with the aim of improving the competence of British businesses on the international stage. The IoE is the UK’s leading independent professional body representing the interests of everyone involved in importing, exporting and international trade. Lesley Batchelor, director general of the IoE, said: “We are committed to the belief that real competitive advantage lies in competence and commercial power, and that negotiating power is underpinned by a sound basis of knowledge.“To this effect we are proud that our partnership with Anglia Ruskin University has made it possible to bring to industry practitioners a learning pathway that is unique and combines industry knowledge and practice with academic theory and concepts.“This is one of the largest projects ever undertaken by the Institute of Export & International Trade and its members, who should be rightly proud of this achievement.”The courses, which lead to Foundation Degree (FdA) in Professional Practice in International Trade, are delivered through a mixture of online tutorials – courtesy of the IoE’s Virtual Learning Environment – and work-related assignments, and they have been specifically designed to be practical, flexible and fit easily around jobs.Modules taught as part of the two-year Foundation Degree include Finance of International Trade, Organisational Change and Practical Global Trading, International Marketing, International Physical Distribution, and Managing Projects.Anglia Ruskin has an established reputation for developing and delivering degree-level education in the workplace, and currently works with companies such as Harrods, Barclays, Specsavers, UPS and Timberland.

Suparna Ghose, from Anglia Ruskin’s Higher  [email protected] team said: “We welcome this partnership with the Institute of Export & International Trade and are delighted to jointly launch this new work-related qualification, which we believe is a first for the industry.”
