Revolutionary contact lens technology from UltraVision in the East of England has been launched in Italy.

The company, which has its HQ in Bedfordshire and an R & D centre in Cambridge, has launched KeraSoft IC into the Italian market. KeraSoft IC’s patented soft lens design is said to provide comfort and visual acuity for patients with irregular corneal conditions, including keratoconus and conditions due to post-graft and post-refractive surgery.

The Italian venture is a partnership between UltraVision CLPL, Bausch + Lomb and Sanalens and was kickstarted at the Congresso di Monopoli. More than 250 practitioners from all over Italy attended the conference which had a focus on specialty contact lenses.

Lynn White, clinical director of UltraVision CLPL, and Dr Lynette Johns, clinical & educational consultant for Bausch + Lomb, presented a joint workshop with live patient fittings throughout the weekend.

Post-graft and RGP wearing patients were fitted with KeraSoft IC and the success created a lot of interest with practitioners placing trial set orders there and then.

UltraVision CLPL is a world class contact lens technology innovation group and exports to more than 60 countries; it has twice won Queen’s Awards for Innovation.
