CEO signals Speechmatics’ intent to accelerate lead in voice revolution
Speechmatics, a Cambridge-based leader in machine learning and automated speech recognition, is set for a new phase of growth under recently appointed CEO, John Milliken.
His vision is to cement Speechmatics’ position as a clear leader in the industry. He was formerly with Infomedia.
Milliken emerged from a strong cohort of candidates because of his track record of rapidly accelerating growth and revenue of small & medium-sized enterprises.
Speechmatics’ chairman, Richard Gibson, said: “We are privileged to have met with a number of very strong entrants, but John was the outstanding candidate.
“He has an exceptional record of accelerating the growth of businesses across both the public and private sector and we’re delighted to have him at the helm during what is an incredibly exciting time for the company.”
As COO at Infomedia, Milliken drove the business growth strategy and steered continued global expansion. Prior to that, he was instrumental in establishing two successful FinTech ventures, including holding senior roles at the UK’s first mobile banking company, Monitise, which reached a peak market capitalisation of over £1.5 billion.
Milliken said: “This is a tremendous and incredibly exciting opportunity, so I’m naturally delighted to be guiding Speechmatics as it makes the next step from startup to scale up.
“The last few years has seen Speechmatics grow rapidly while also developing the best technology on the market, so the foundations are very much in place for us to build upon our existing partnerships, as well as establish new ones, and hire the best new talent as we continue to grow.”
