French connection pays off for Ubisense

Ubisense CEO Richard Gree

A large carmaker has deployed technology from Cambridge-based Ubisense to drive efficiencies across its manufacturing facility in France.

The deal is the latest in a growing catalogue of successes for the UK business with its Smart Factory System suite.

Ubisense, a market leader in location based smart technology, is gaining increasing traction with the solution globally, with the US, Europe and Asia all proving fertile territories.

The latest triumph has been leveraged from the fruitful partnership between Ubisense and international toolmaker, Atlas Copco.

The Smart Factory System has been installed on workstations to control tools across the new French client’s assembly line. The Ubisense-Atlas Copco installation ensures that tightening operations are performed accurately and that the appropriate tool setting adjustments are made, ensuring overall that the tightening operations have been performed correctly. Previously the process was manually performed by an operator via a barcode scan which added around six seconds per tool operation per vehicle. Ubisense CEO Richard Green said: “The outstanding partnership we have developed with Atlas Copco continues to go from strength to strength and is allowing us to rapidly introduce critically important location manufacturing solutions to a broad range of manufacturing companies.”
