RealVNC showcasing in-car technology in Detroit
The most advanced in-car technology in history is being showcased by Cambridge innovator RealVNC at Telematics Detroit on June 4 and 5.
The UK business is watching in its rear view mirror as competing infotainment technologies disappear at speed: Tom Blackie and his RealVNC team will again be in the driving seat in the car capital of the world.
RealVNC is the world’s premier MirrorLink™ supplier and unveils its leading demo featuring MirrorLink 1.1 certified technology VNC® Automotive.
The solution features multiple simultaneous video streaming to several rear seat entertainment screens, from one mobile device. It also enables users to stream separate phone applications from one device to different screens.
This means the driver can launch navigation maps while passengers in the rear of the car can access different applications such as videos or games.
RealVNC’s technology also enables multiple mobile devices to connect to the vehicle simultaneously and stream content from any passenger’s phone, such as videos and music.
With safety paramount, the technology allows the mobile device to be controlled via either the infotainment touch screen, vehicle bezel keys, steering wheel switches or by voice command. Screen blanking options are also available, which means selected phone applications are not available on the move.
Tom Blackie, vice-president Mobile at RealVNC, said: “RealVNC is proud to be showcasing the development of mobile to vehicle connectivity, and the growing success and global adoption of our VNC Automotive technology at Telematics Detroit.
“2014 is set to be another exciting year for RealVNC and the industry, with full production cycles, as automotive OEMs line-fit this latest technology in new vehicles. RealVNC’s technology is underpinning most of the commercial MirrorLink Certified products and our software is available in the majority of these products.”
