Nissan dealer opens new Cambridge showroom

Glyn Hopkin, the UK’s largest volume Nissan dealer group, is to open a new and improved showroom to replace the existing Nissan site in Newmarket Road, Cambridge.

This month the group took over the management of the existing site, giving customers improved access to over 2,500 quality used vehicles from across Glyn Hopkin’s stock, as well as providing the full range of brand-new Nissan vehicles, including the popular all-new Juke and Qashqai models.

As well as longer opening hours for sales and service, Glyn Hopkin will also make more demonstrator cars available for test drives and increase the number of courtesy cars on hand for loans during services.

From early 2015 Nissan customers will be able to visit a newly built, larger, state-of-the-art showroom, and benefit from a sophisticated new aftersales facility with more than twice the number of service bays.

The purpose-built site will also add a new Fiat and Jeep showroom, expanding Glyn Hopkin’s partnership with Fiat to eight showrooms and Jeep to three showrooms in the UK and increasing the choice of brands available to motorists in Cambridgeshire.

Work on the new Nissan and Fiat/Jeep dealerships, which will be situated behind the existing Nissan showroom, starts this month.

Glyn Hopkin’s new Cambridge showroom increases the group’s Nissan portfolio to 13 sites across the South East. The move follows confirmation that Glyn Hopkin acquired Nissan Cambridge from Marshall Motor Group. Under the terms of the deal, staff at the Nissan Cambridge site will be transferred to Glyn Hopkin, taking the group’s total headcount to nearly 600.

Fraser Cohen, managing director at Glyn Hopkin, said: “We see this expansion into Cambridgeshire, which conveniently links our territories in Bishop’s Stortford, Bedford and Ipswich, as a key acquisition for Glyn Hopkin.

“By redeveloping this site we can offer customers in Cambridgeshire an increased choice of brands in the near future, coupled with the outstanding customer service and highly competitive pricing that Glyn Hopkin is famous for.”

The acquisition of the Nissan Cambridge showroom is the latest expansion for Glyn Hopkin, following the launch of a new Nissan dealership in Bedford earlier this year and a dedicated Nissan Taxi showroom in Canary Wharf, London.

The group’s very first dealership, Nissan Romford, opened in January 1993 and Glyn Hopkin now has more than 30 showrooms across London and the South East, representing more than 10 brands.
