Careersbox puts Marshalls in driving seat to showcase motor industry careers
Innovative Cambridge-based company, Careersbox, is working closely with major local employer Marshall Motor Group to create free career films about jobs in the motor industry.
Careersbox is working in partnership with the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) to produce almost 100 career videos, which will be available for show-goers to view at the British International Motor Show later this month. One of Cambridge’s largest employers, Marshall Motor Group is among the organisations taking part in the filming. Careersbox Managing Director Toby Grimshaw, said: “We’re delighted to be providing people with more free careers films. By working with Marshall Motor Group and the IMI, we can ensure the films are a true representation of jobs in the motor industry. We also understand needs of schools and LEAs to provide careers resources on tight budgets, and our career films fulfil this demand at no cost to the users.” Careersbox is interviewing Marshall Motor Group employees in a diverse range of jobs including Parts Sales Representative, Mobile Specialist, Marketing Manager and Body Shop Manager. Christopher Walkinshaw, Business Development Director at Marshall Motor Group said: “It’s great to be working closely with another local company, Careersbox, to promote our employment opportunities to people who are interested in a career in the motor industry. Having worked with Careersbox before, we know the career films reach people and this helps us fulfil our recruitment needs.” The IMI has commissioned Careersbox to create career films covering nine categories in the motor industry: Car Dealership, Motorcycle Dealerships, Truck Dealerships, Independent Garages, FastFits, Body Shop, Vehicle Rental/Fleet/Contract Hire, Mobile Specialist and Parts Factors. The IMI is launching Autocity, an interactive on-line careers portal, at the Careers Zone at the British International Motor Show, being held at London’s ExCel from 23 July – 3 August. Visitors will be able to select a motor industry category and watch a wide range of job profiles, including interviews at Marshall Motor Group. IMI’s Head of Professional Development, Lesley Woolley, said: “We chose to work with Careersbox because they enable us to use the highly effective medium of film to show people the real story behind the huge array of careers in the motor industry. The Motor Show is an ideal place to launch the career films, to inform visitors who may be thinking about working in the industry.”
