70 jobs go as car dealer fails

Essex car dealership Crown Motors has gone into administration.

Accountancy and business advisory practice Smith & Williamson has been called in to manage the company’s affairs.

Greg Palfrey and David Blenkarn were hired following a difficult trading period in the vehicle sales industry.  Crown Motors operates Vauxhall motor dealerships in Romford and Dagenham, Essex.

Trading at both locations has ceased and most of the 70 staff at the two dealerships have been laid off.

Palfrey said: “We are hopeful that new operators for the sites will be found in due course but in the meantime we have ceased trading activity.

“The company directors have done their best in a difficult trading environment but ultimately the commercial pressures have been too great and they have requested the appointment of administrators to protect the creditors’ interests.”

• Interested parties can contact the administrators on 023 8082 7600.
