Full Blue Racing takes second in Germany
Full Blue Racing, the Cambridge University Formula Student team, overcame technical and logistical problems in Germany to grab a second place finish in the ‘cost’ category from a field of 89 at the Formula Student Germany event at the famous Hockenheim track.
After successfully passing all the scrutineering from the judges, the team then struggled with an engine that did not want to start, hindered in part by one of the team’s tuning experts getting stranded in Belgium.
However, whilst dynamic events caused headaches, the team took the opportunity to shine in the static events where business, manufacturing and budgeting skills are tested by panels of judges. The team finished 39th in the business event and second in the cost event, which tested the team’s ability to design, manufacture and assemble a racing car on a budget.
Work has now started on the 2010 car, which is now well into the conceptual design stage. New partners and members are being sought.
