Suffolk firm celebrates expansion
An independent Bury St Edmunds company has reason to celebrate after marking almost 10 successful years in business with a move to new bespoke premises.
Directors Tony Davis and Alan Beckett had spent 20 years working in car dealerships when, in 2001, they spotted an opportunity to supply a wider range of vehicles and flexible finance options. As Tony explains it was then that Genus Vehicle Solutions started life: “We realised that there was a real niche for an independent, customer service based contract hire and leasing provider, run by experienced people,” says Tony. “We decided to concentrate on the quality of service and searching for the best car at the best price for every client. “The company has recently sourced and supplied an Aston Martin DB9 for one client while another happily drove away in a £100 a month Nissan Micra.” Genus has built a solid reputation with local companies, providing fleet cars and offering free expert advice on motoring efficiency, fuel emissions and company car tax implications. As well as providing extra office space, the company’s spacious new headquarters also features secure indoor storage and a handover area where customers can drop off their old vehicle and collect a shiny new model. The company is looking to create more local jobs with the launch of a state-of-the-art fleet management service aimed at businesses, but even with the latest technology Alan says it still comes down to good old fashioned customer service. “We have survived and thrived on our industry knowledge, personal service and getting the best deal for every single customer – that’s what we want Genus to be known for.”• PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: Genus directors Tony Davis and Alan Beckett
