Research bait for trawlermen

Internationally renowned research body, the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), is inviting skippers and owners of commercial fishing vessel to take part in a programme of fisheries research aimed at building closer ties between scientists and fishermen.Working on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Lowestoft-based Cefas will take on the tender documents for the Fishery Science Partnership (FSP) which will receive a £1 million each year over the next three.

The FSP projects will include: the provision of information from commercial fishing catches on key stocks; concerns raised by fishermen on scientific assessments or on stocks not currently assessed; and investigation of innovative scientific methods.
