Cambridge role in $300k Asian startup accelerator

Cambridge Consultants has joined forces with MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific, the world’s leading non-profit accelerator of medical devices, for a startup venture dangling £300k cash prizes.

MedTech Innovator connects healthcare industry leaders with innovative early and mid-stage medtech companies for mentorship and support.

During 2021, MedTech Innovator will select 20 startups for participation in its annual Asia Pacific program and will award up to $300,000 in cash prizes and awards.

Cambridge Consultants will work directly with selected emerging companies and also provide financial support to MedTech Innovator.

The organisation’s annual program provides best-in-class startups with opportunities to connect with healthcare investors, stakeholders, and key decision makers.

The startups receive one-on-one mentorship and coaching from industry leaders to help drive commercialisation of leading-edge medical technologies throughout Asia Pacific.

Yan Lin Lye, head of Asia Pacific Medtech at French-owned Cambridge Consultants said: “This is an exciting opportunity to put something back into the industry and help to shape the future.

“It certainly demonstrates our commitment to medical technology innovation in the region. The team here is ready to put its years of expertise and insight to good use, helping ambitious young companies improve the standard of care in the Asia Pacific region.

“We look forward to discovering how participants in the program are working to improve and prolong patient lives through innovation.”

Paul Grand, founder and CEO of MedTech Innovator added: “We are proud of our track record of finding the industry’s most promising medical technologies and digital health companies.

“Our partners and sponsors play an invaluable part in advancing innovation with their expertise and industry knowledge. We are pleased to welcome Cambridge Consultants as our newest collaborator for the Asia Pacific program and look forward to working together to advance technologies poised to address critical health issues in the region and achieve better patient outcomes.”

MedTech Innovator works closely with stakeholders across the industry to foster the growth of early to mid-stage start-ups. Cambridge Consultants joins program sponsors Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, which has committed to a three-year sponsorship of the program, Align Technology, Nipro Medical Corporation, Oliver Healthcare Packaging, Olympus Medical Systems Group, Siemens Healthineers, and Enterprise Singapore. The MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific Program is held with industry support from APACMed.
