New Chicago base as Biocair expands Midwest presence

Life science logistics specialist Biocair, which has operations in Cambridge, has opened a base in Chicago to underpin further expansion in the US and globally. The latest move brings the number of Biocair’s  US offices to nine.

The company has come a long way since it recruited its first Cambridge graduate in 1993.

Ten years later Biocair had an office in Boston as it looked to expand globally. China followed  as the company launched its first Asian hub in Shanghai before Biocair was acquired by DPDGroup in 2012. In 2014 Biocair moved into a new international headquarters at Iconix One, Sawston.

The Chicago facility will accommodate certified packaging and conditioning areas for a wide range of temperatures, including an advanced liquid nitrogen service station – plus office space for operations staff.

June Rivera, Operations Development director at Biocair, said: “Listening and responding to our clients’ needs is at the core of Biocair’s business. Client demand has paved the way for us to break new ground in Chicago: expanding our footprint was a necessary step to better service the Midwest region.”

Biocair has built up a unique, client-centric approach by employing scientists in front-line logistics positions and assembling a team of best-in-class industry experts in quality, cold chain and regulatory compliance.

It focuses on providing comprehensive time-sensitive and temperature-controlled logistics services. It is believed that expansion in China and India is on the growth agenda.
