Lloyds established as major dealmaker

Having been voted both Bank of the Year for the second year running and now Adviser of the Year at the FDs’ Excellence Awards hosted by CBI and Real Finance, Lloyds TSB Corporate has firmly established itself as the pre-eminent deal-maker regardless of deal type or industry sector.Having been voted both Bank of the Year for the second year running and now Adviser of the Year at the FDs’ Excellence Awards hosted by CBI and Real Finance, Lloyds TSB Corporate has firmly established itself as the pre-eminent deal-maker regardless of deal type or industry sector.

Nowhere is this more evident than in this region, where a quick look at the management buy-outs it has worked on recently gives an idea of the scope of its capabilities and flexible app-roach to corporate banking.

Within recent months Lloyds TSB Corporate’s East Anglia team has supported an MBO by a genomics company from the world-famous Medical Research Council; a buy-out from the founder of a national motor valeting business; and assisted the UK’s answer to internet telephone giant, Skype to become a publicly-listed company following a management buy-out.

Each deal presented its own distinct challenges. Genomics service provider, Geneservice’s CEO, Tom Weaver explained his: “Our previous bank were keen to work with us but they just did not understand genomics.

“Lloyds TSB Corporate understood the business as well as the science, and brought us the right solution for our MBO.”

Valeting business, Motor-clean needed a smooth hand-over from the founder. Motorclean’s new financial director Brian Impey says: “We received great service and support from a terrific team.

“Without doubt we do have the best banking team around.”

Meanwhile, the exciting Voice over IP (VoIP) company, Babble.net needed to quickly implement its own internet payment system following the MBO from its parent company.

CEO Allan Howes said: “As a company, we have moved quickly since our MBO, including a recent float on OFEX.

“Lloyds TSB has been instrumental, not least by quickly expediting the implementation of the Lloyds TSB Cardnet system.”

Lloyds TSB Corporate was voted bank and adviser of the year in the Real Finance 2006 Satisfaction Survey, based on the votes of financial directors at over 500 of the UK’s leading companies.
