PEM’s animal magic in pet business acquisition

Lake Falconer PEM

Jo Wise, managing director of Monkfield Nutrition, recently acquired the reptile and and bird elements of the Arcadia Products Plc business known as ‘Arcadia Reptile.’

The acquisition, for which no figures are being disclosed, adds a market leading brand to Monkfield Nutrition's product offering and cements its position as a one-stop-shop for reptile pet supplies.

The Royston-based business has been a market leader in the breeding of reptiles and their food for over 25 years.

It acquired the stock, fixed assets and staff of Arcadia’s reptile retail arm in addition to rights to the whole of the Arcadia pet product ranges. This included access to unique product designs, trademarks and access to multiple new offshore suppliers. The other arm of Arcadia (which is not being sold) supplies aquatic products to the aquarium retail trade.

The deal further consolidates Monkfield Nutrition’s leading position in the reptile pet market.

Jo Wise said: “The addition of Arcadia Reptile, including the full bird and zoological range, adds an exciting and purposeful new dimension to the Monkfield business. We are confident that the brand will continue to show good growth both in the UK and worldwide.”

Lake Falconer (pictured), Partner at PEMCF added: “This acquisition adds a market leading range of branded products to the Monkfield offering and further confirms their number one position in the reptile pet market.”

Legal advice was provided by Katherine Brown of Howes Percival LLP.
