FPI Ltd may sell Cromer Crab Company

FPI Limited, the Canadian food conglomerate, is in exclusive talks with a European buyer to sell its UK business, The Seafood Company, which includes The Cromer Crab Company in Norfolk.

The Seafood Company employs over 180 staff and has annual sales worth around £40m.

The Cromer Crab Company operates a state-of-the-art factory which prepares and processes crab, lobster, prawn and other shellfish products for supply to supermarkets, catering distributors and food manufacturers in the UK and Europe.

The Seafood Company was formed in December 1995 in a management buyout of the Anchor Seafoods and Cromer Crab company businesses from Perkins Foods plc. In September 2005, it was acquired by Fishery Products International in Newfoundland.
