Hedley buys Newmarket electrical contractor

Peterborough based IT infrastructure services company Hedley 2000 Ltd has taken over Newmarket based electrical contractor Playford and Son Ltd. No sum has been disclosed.Peterborough based IT infrastructure services company Hedley 2000 Ltd has taken over Newmarket based electrical contractor Playford and Son Ltd. No sum has been disclosed.

Playford and Son was established in 1925 and provides electrical installations to customers throughout the UK. It is one of the ECA’s 100 oldest members, having joined in 1933.

Playford was also one of the first members, in 1957, of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors.

Hedley, which also operates across the UK, says the acquisition was driven by the impending retirement of the existing directors and the strong relationships between the two companies over the previous seven years.

Alan Tuohy, formerly of Hedley and now MD of Playford, said: “The synergy between the companies in terms of their operations and the desire of the existing directors to retire, was seen as the perfect opportunity for Hedley 2000 to further strengthen relations and as a result it has acquired all the business operations of Playford.

“The businesses now have the opportunity to strengthen their quality of services and product portfolios for the benefit of all their existing customers and are also looking forward to the expansion of their operations to new customers.”
