Cambridge P2P company announces alliance
CacheLogic in Cambridge and London based RawFlow have forged an alliance to provide a solution that delivers a highly scalable, high-bit-rate A/V live streaming to broadcasters that does not burden ISPs with the network congestion issues normally associated with traditional streaming and legacy P2P. CacheLogic in Cambridge, a leader in P2P traffic management solutions, and P2P streaming innovator RawFlow have forged an alliance to provide a solution that delivers a highly scalable, high-bit-rate A/V live streaming to broadcasters that does not burden ISPs with the network congestion issues normally associated with traditional streaming and legacy P2P.
Through this alliance, RawFlow's Live P2P streaming ICD software has been integrated into CacheLogic's P2P caching products.
The alignment of P2P streaming and caching overcomes the prohibitive distribution/hosting costs and scalability issues associated with current streaming technologies that have restricted the adoption of high bit-rate streaming services.
By providing support for RawFlow's live P2P streaming technology within CacheLogic's P2P caching products ensures ISPs have the capability manage the impact of this traffic on their networks by reducing the upstream bandwidth levels and transit costs incurred by P2P.
This extends CacheLogic's P2P caching products support to include the following P2P client technologies: BitTorrent, eDonkey, FastTrack, Gnutella and RawFlow.
Andrew Parker, CTO of CacheLogic, said: “RawFlow has an exciting and highly impressive technology which will be in high demand by broadcasters.
“Our work with RawFlow demonstrates CacheLogic's commitment to our ISP customers and ensures that our P2P Management Solution not only supports today's P2P technologies, but also supports the emerging commercial P2P offerings such as RawFlow's live streaming.”
CacheLogic provides a suite of complementary products that deliver traffic management and network intelligence solutions to the Internet Service Provider and telecommunications sectors. CacheLogic's core products provide carrier-grade solutions that enable ISPs to achieve significant cost savings through the intelligent management of Peer-to-Peer traffic across their networks, without affecting the end-user experience.
In January 2004 CacheLogic set up an analysis network to provide traffic analysis from within the ISP networks across the globe. The network ensures CacheLogic maintains leadership in understanding the changing nature of traffic across the Internet and, in particular, its impact upon Service Provider networks.
CacheLogic is currently working with a number of digital rights holders and broadcasters on their strategies for the distribution of legitimate video content using P2P technologies.
