RU stars say: ‘What blind side?’

England rugby union stars should never again be caught out on the blind side thanks to Cambridge technology.

The Professional Rugby Players Association (PRA) has appointed UltraVision CLPL in Cambridge its official contact lens supplier for the next three years.

UltraVision CLPL will supply professional rugby players with UltraWave™ disposable contact lenses, specifically through independent optical practitioners located in the surrounding areas of each rugby club.

This latest accolade reinforces UltraVision CLPL’s commitment to bringing innovative products to the market.

England are the current Rugby Union World Champions, with players at the top of the professional game. All Premiership Rugby clubs in England, which includes the England players, are part of the PRA and hence these top class players will be able to experience the comfort and optical benefits of UltraWave™ contact lenses.

PRA’s chief executive – the former England player Damian Hopley – said: “We are always striving to help players improve their performance both on and off the field and we feel that this is a new exciting initiative that will benefit our members over the next three years.”

UltraWave™ contact lenses provide the wearer with clearer vision and enhanced contrast sensitivity, offering greater depth perception, which makes them ideally suited to sport. The PRA recognised the benefits that UltraWave™ can provide, especially when playing sport at the highest levels.

Rugby devotee J Keith Lomas, group president and CEO of UltraVision CLPL says: “Whilst it may be a clear given fact, players can’t wear spectacles whilst playing; superior vision is required at the highest levels of sport and we can offer this.”
