Hitchin company wins Nestle label contract

A Hitchin-based innovator of intelligent labels has won a contract to fit its three-day smart label, Timestrip, as standard on Nestle’s Maggi(R) brand of ready to use sauces.A Hitchin-based innovator of intelligent labels has won a contract to fit its three-day smart label, Timestrip®, as standard on Nestle’s Maggi(R) brand of ready to use sauces.

The deal follows full-scale commercial trials which Bedfordshire’s Timestrip plc and Nestle Foodservices UK began last year. Timestrip said the development was significant despite only conservative revenues as it demonstrates the relevance of the technology as a customer focused packaging innovation.

Timestrip will also embark upon another joint product development initiative with Nestle FoodServices UK, with further details to be announced in due course.

Timestrip’s smart labels contain a liquid which migrates across the label, enabling users of perishable food and other products to monitor for how long an item has been open or in use. The technology can be implemented as an external label or can be fully integrated into products and product packaging.
