Ex-Telensa boss becomes Plextek CEO

Brent Hudson has taken over as CEO of Cambridge tech pioneer Plextek Services Limited. Previously CEO of Telensa, a market-leading smart street lighting company, Hudson has 25 years’ experience at senior management and board level with companies such as Sagentia Group plc, QinetiQ, and Tality.

With a rapidly changing global marketplace, Hudson’s skillset and in-depth market knowledge will further enable Plextek to grow its UK and international client base.

This builds on the work of Plextek’s previous CEO, Nicholas Hill to position and transform the company’s activities, including the launch of Plextek’s defence brand Plextek DTS and its specialist innovation strategy unit Ignite Exponential.

Dr Colin Smithers, co-founder and chairman of Plextek said: “I am pleased to welcome Brent to Plextek. Having worked with Brent when he was CEO of Telensa, I know that we can harness his leadership skills and commercial experience gained in the tech industry over the past 25+ years to drive Plextek on its positive growth trajectory.”

Hudson adds, “I am excited to join Plextek, a company I have watched from afar and admired for many years. The unique combination of engineering and innovation talent at Plextek makes me enthusiastic to lead the company and deliver fresh ideas and technology solutions to existing and new clients.”

Plextek is a leading independent electronics consultancy and innovation strategy business chosen by companies around the world looking to create impressive outcomes in the security, automotive, aerospace, industrial, medical and defence sectors.

Clients include MBDA, Sony, Ultra Electronics and Tracker Network, all of whom have clocked up more than 20 years association with Plextek.

Plextek innovates in sensing, communications and data exploitation, from generating ideas through to production engineering and contract manufacture.

It has also spun out a group of sister companies including Blighter Surveillance Systems (e-scan radar for border security and counter drone applications); Redtail Telematics (Black Box tracking for SVR and for young driver insurance), PRFI (boutique microwave chip design) and Telensa (street light metering and management).
