Greenwoods and GRM create £12m legal powerhouse

Greenwoods Solicitors in Cambridge and Peterborough has merged with London practice GRM Law to form a new UK and international power player for the legal sector.

Greenwoods GRM LLP  becomes a top 200 firm with Eastern Region and London roots, international reach, and 230 years of history.

The successful conversion is apt as – through the GRM history – the merged firm dates back to 1784 and can claim four past Law Society presidents and to have drawn up the laws of Rugby Union.

The new entity will include 25 partners and a total of 85 lawyers. The move seeks to add a more substantial London presence to Greenwoods’ existing Cambridge and Peterborough bases.

The practice has international specialisms covering South Korea, Italy and Germany and with a combined turnover in excess of £12m, enters the UK’s top 200 law firms.

Greenwoods is predominately a corporate law firm, with a team of 60 lawyers serving a portfolio of regional, national and international clients from its Peterborough base and offices in Cambridge and London.

GRM Law is a London-based firm, with a rich and diverse history that extends over 230 years.  It has a highly respected and expanding finance and investment funds team alongside its corporate, private client and international practices.

The newly-merged firm offers strong and complementary specialisms that include:-

  • Corporate & commercial
  • Finance & investment funds
  • Regulatory services
  • Employment law
  • Dispute resolution
  • Real estate
  • Private client
  • Family

Robert Dillarstone (pictured), managing partner of Greenwoods GRM, said: “The combining of Greenwoods and GRM Law is a merger of two firms from a position of strength and with shared ambition, values and ethos.

“We offer lawyers who work with us high-quality, interesting work, along with a real focus on work/life balance. This is an aspect of our shared culture we intend to maintain, nurture and build on.

“As a result, we attract and retain exceptional lawyers, enabling us to deliver high-quality, agile and responsive legal services to our clients.”
