£1.7m Bedfordshire facility to create 25 manufacturing jobs

Sub-contract sheet metal fabricator, Yellowpatter is expanding with a £1.7m investment in a new factory in Dunstable.

The new 40,000 sq ft factory, which complements Yellowpatter's existing premises in Storrington,

West Sussex, is creating 25 jobs locally and was funded in part by a grant from the European Union.

The move has already been vindicated following the award of an eight year contract from an unnamed local furniture manufacturer,

Managing director Stuart Bishop said the company is ready for expansion: 'We have been serving a whole range of businesses seeking specialist metal items for over 30 years, but we are outgrowing our existing premises.

"This new site provides us with the ability to install the very latest equipment so we can provide the best possible service to our existing and new customers."

Among the state-of-the-art equipment in the new factory is a machine claimed to be the world's fastest CNC punch press, also understood to be the first use of the new machine in the UK.

The factory will also feature a UK-first panel bender, a custom-designed unified pre-treatment and painting line and further automating processes, aimed at providing for faster throughput and reduced costs.
