Reduction in shipments blamed for CML losses

Semiconductor manufacturer CML reported losses for the half year, citing a “severe reduction in product shipments to a key Memory CardController customer” as the cause. The Maldon-based company reported revenues were down 34 per cent from £14.24m to £9.46m. It also recorded losses of £800k, compared with prior year first half profit of £1.4m.

Chairman of the communications semiconductor company, George Curry, said: “I will not conceal my disappointment with these results and the present outlook for the second half, but I balance the causes and the performance strengths of the company to expect a return to profitability reasonably soon thereafter.”
