Marshall staff honoured for combined 1465 years service!

Forty employees with almost 1500 years of combined service for the Marshall Group in Cambridge were handed long service awards and feted by president Sir Michael Marshall and group chief executive Robert Marshall at a special ceremony.

Marshall traditionally honours people with 30, 40 or 50 years of continuous service as at 2017 but this year managed to top even that achievement.

Sir Michael especially congratulated Len Sapsford on becoming the longest serving employee in Marshall Group’s history, having passed the 65th anniversary of first joining Marshall in late December 1952.

He started in Marshall Land Systems where he worked on the bus production line, then transferred to Marshall Aerospace where he managed the Trim Shop and later moved to Marshall Motor Group where he now works in the warranty administration team.

Notched up in 2017, were 19 awards for 30 years; 17 for 40 years; three for 50 years and Len Sapsford’s marathon stint – a grand total of 1465 years!
Since these special awards were first introduced in 1976, a total of 1,154 awards have been presented covering an amazing total of 30,040 years of continuous service.
