KPMG in talks over Cambridge upgrade

KPMG, the UK top three accountancy practice, is expanding in Cambridge in spectacular style, Business Weekly understands.

The firm – which almost took the decision to pull out of Cambridge a few years ago – is now reaping the benefits of using the city as a growth platform.

Property agents locally are speculating that KPMG could pay £31 per sq ft for plush new accommodation at New Botanic House in the city centre. Currently based at 37 Hills Road, KPMG confirms that negotiations are ongoing, although it says terms have not yet been agreed.

A spokesperson said: “KPMG can confirm that we are in discussions with Pace Investments regarding the potential to secure a single floor of office space in New Botanic House. Negotiations to agree mutually acceptable terms are currently ongoing.

“Our Cambridge operations are growing and we continue to build the team and bring new services on board. In order to offer our clients and staff an exciting and modern working environment going forward it has been necessary to source new premises within the city centre as the lease on our existing premises in Hills Road comes to an end.

“A number of options are being considered and KPMG will continue to work from the current Hills Road offices until the search for new office premises have been settled.”
