Kier building on solid foundations

Sandy-based construction and services group, Kier announced performance is up on the same period last year. The firm said it was the preferred bidder on a £17m maintenance contract and had achieved a record level of revenue in the construction sector. It said that interest rate increases had not affected reservations for new houses, quoting a 22% increase in unit completions and forward orders but that it expected a slowdown for the second half of the period.

It also announced itself as the preferred bidder on a 5.5 acre mixed-use development in Gateshead, Kent.
