Jackson secures £2m Chesterford project

Jackson Construction has secured a £2 million project with Morley Fund Management & The Churchmanor Estates Co plc at Chesterford Research Park, near Cambridge. The project will see Jackson build a new research & development (R&D) office unit at the 250-acre low-density research park, which aims to attract a wide range of biotechnology and R&D companies into the area.

The two-storey steel frame R&D office building will feature a predominantly open plan layout, with brickwork and cladding to the facade.

Jackson will install solar shading panels to the front elevation and externally, the contractor will create a new car park and carry out a range soft landscaping finishes around the building, with the project due for completion early 2007.

Chris Harrall, director of Jackson Construction¹s commercial division, said: "We continue to secure an increasing volume of commercial office projects by working closely with our clients to provide high quality and intelligent contracting solutions.

"This latest scheme at Chesterford Research Park represents an excellent opportunity for Jackson to play an important role in the developing South Camb-ridge biotechnology cluster.

Jackson has also secured a £3.9 million project with commercial property developer Wrenbridge, to create a new industrial warehouse unit on Morley Way in Peterborough.

Work has started on the construction of the 11,500 sq m capacity steel frame warehouse, which will feature a number of administrative offices, a two-storey lift and car parking.

The building will occupy a large plot on the existing industrial estate and boasts an extensive 7,000 sq m service yard and loading bay at the rear of the unit.

The project is scheduled for completion at the start of the New Year.
