Artist opens creative centre in Cambridge

Milton Tamsin Morse Trafalgar Studios

Artists across Cambridge can rent mini-studios with the opening of a creative centre near the A14 junction at Milton.

Agent Robinson Layer has just sold 97 Cambridge Road, opposite the Tesco Super Store, to a company led by artist Tamsin Morse who set up a similar centre in near Brighton.

The Milton building is a modern, part-two-storey business unit of 3,871 sq ft with comfort cooled offices. It was sold freehold for £265,000.

Mark Robinson said: “This is an unusual use for a commercial building in this area but Tamsin specialises in subdividing such space into basic workshop provision for artists and makers though partitioning larger building into workable units at an accessible price.

“She launched Trafalgar Studios in Sussex in July 2009 and claims that it has the brightest, lightest studios in Brighton. Trafalgar Studios hosts 13 individual studios for professional contemporary artists.

“It has run at full capacity since it opened. Apart from creating a lively community for occupiers it provides access to the national and international exhibition network.”

Local artists wishing to rent space can make contact through the website: www.trafalgarworks.co.uk
