Jaynic breaks ground on Suffolk warehouse scheme

Developer Jaynic has broken ground on the third unit within phase three of its warehouse development at Suffolk Park, Bury St Edmunds, to be built by contractor Parkway.

The 47,000 sq ft speculative warehouse unit will cater for the strong occupier demand in the region and is due to be completed in December 2022.

Companies taking space at Suffolk Park to date include Weerts Group (Skechers/Bleckmann), MH Star UK Ltd, Unipart Logistics, Treatt, Sealey and The East of England Ambulance Trust accounting for approaching 1.75m sq ft of space.

Suffolk Park offers prospective occupiers bespoke buildings on a design & build basis alongside a rolling programme of speculative development. It is located within one hour of the Port of Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port dealing with 42 per cent of Britain’s containerised trade. In 2015 it was ranked as the 37th busiest container port in the world and Europe’s 6th busiest. Marketing agents for Suffolk Park are Hazells, Savills and Bidwells.

In a separate deal, Gateway 14 Ltd, working with its development manager Jaynic, has  awarded an infrastructure contract worth £6.4m to Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd. Jackson will start work on the mixed-use development project at the end of April and expects to complete the project within 12 months.

The infrastructure contract for the 2.36 million sq ft mixed-use development project at Gateway 14 adjacent to Junction 50 of the A14 at Stowmarket, Suffolk, includes building of a new main estate road from the roundabout on the A1120, providing direct access into the development, for the residents of The Clamps and will connect into Mill Lane.

Jason Newman, construction director at Jaynic said “the letting of this infrastructure contract is a significant milestone in our involvement at Gateway 14 and we very much look forward to the progression of these works over the coming months as the business park starts to take shape.”

Neil Robinson, Regional Director for Jackson Civil Engineering’s Eastern Division said “Jackson is delighted to have been appointed to deliver the infrastructure on this exciting project. We look forward to once again working alongside Jaynic and to playing a part in developing this major business park in East Anglia.”
