Cosworth enterprise zone to create 10,000 new jobs
The global engineering brilliance of Cosworth could help generate 10,000 jobs in Northampton.
Business Secretary Vince Cable has launched the UK’s Enterprise Zone – a 300-acre regeneration area – at Cosworth’s UK headquarters.
Cosworth CEO, Tim Routsis said: “Cosworth is at the centre of the UK’s Enterprise Zone in Northampton - an area that, in these challenging economic times, offers a wealth of opportunity to UK business.
“Vince Cable expects 10,000 jobs to be created here over the coming years. Cosworth is a prime example of a company that is growing, developing and hence creating a diverse and rewarding range of career opportunities.
“We like to think we have the knack to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right technology. Northampton has been chosen as the UK’s Enterprise Zone and Cosworth has been recognised as a pioneer to this initiative. We might have proved our point.
“The UK is at the forefront of engineering and Cosworth employs some of the UK’s best engineers; we have an apprentice programme in place to make up for the shortfall in education opportunities faced by many talented young engineers.
“The creation of the Enterprise Zone is a very positive step for talented people looking for opportunity and financially rewarding careers in the UK, and we look forward to welcoming some of these people at Cosworth.”
