Mission Therapeutics seeks talent at Cambridge Network recruitment fair
Mission Therapeutics, headline sponsor for Cambridge Network’s next Virtual Jobs & Careers Fair on Friday 14th May, is seeking experienced scientists for a variety of roles at its Babraham Research Campus HQ.
Mission is a drug development company targeting the ubiquitin pathways for the treatment of kidney disease, neurodegenerative disease, rare mitochondrial diseases and fibrosis. The company has built a leading platform for the discovery and development of first-in-class, small molecule drugs that selectively target deubiquitylating enzymes (DUBs) – an emerging drug class that is attracting significant commercial interest in the area of protein homeostasis.
Mission’s leadership team has a wealth of international, commercial and scientific experience and the company has a collaborative, science-driven culture, with strong collaborations with key academic and research centres. These include Professor Steve Jackson’s Cancer Research UK Laboratories at the University of Cambridge Gurdon Institute, and leading UK centres in neurodegenerative diseases.
Founded in 2011, Mission Therapeutics has to date received £73 million in funding from blue chip institutional and corporate investors. In March this year it nominated the first two development candidates from its in-house USP30 inhibitor programme. These candidates will be advanced through preclinical good laboratory practice (GLP) toxicology studies during 2021, with a view to initiating clinical studies in early 2022.
The company has secured major industry partnerships, including its collaboration with AbbVie in November 2018, for the research and preclinical development of specified DUB inhibitors for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.
Natalie Ryan, HR adviser at Mission, said: “We aspire to be viewed as an employer of choice. We have a great benefits package and a positive culture based on collaboration and teamwork and our values – people, excellence and passion – reflect and embody this. At the Jobs Fair, we’re hoping to speak to people from all fields and backgrounds that would be interested in a career in the biotech space.”
Other organisations taking part in the Jobs & Careers Fair include PolyChord, PitPat, DisplayLink/Synaptics, Inclusioneering, Career Ambitions and InterSTEM Recruitment.
Claire Angus, head of Cambridge Network’s Recruitment Gateway, says: “The fair is shaping up to be a busy day, with opportunities for jobseekers to meet leading local employers and also to get practical advice and top tips from expert recruiters and careers coaches.”
