140 new jobs in Huntingdon as Hotel Chocolat hits sweet spot

Hotel Chocolat is recruiting 140 new permanent employees to start work at its state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Huntingdon.

The hiring drive supports the site’s ongoing transformation from 45,000 sq ft to 195,000 sq ft by 2026.

Various manufacturing roles are on offer within the chocolate production team ranging from skilled operatives, chocolate technicians and more. The site already employs 275 people plus agency staff – together producing 250 million chocolates a year.

Ollie Hughes, site manufacturing manager at Hotel Chocolat said: “Hotel Chocolat is on an exciting journey so we are heavily investing in our Huntingdon site to make it the ‘centre of excellence’ for chocolate production.”

“It will look remarkably different as it evolves over the next five years, and we are over the moon to be boosting the local job economy at the same time.”

Hotel Chocolat has experienced significant growth over the past year, with a sharp rise in UK online sales and a considerable increase in revenue from the US and Japan.

Last month, the company posted full year revenues of £165 million to June 27 (21 per cent ahead, year-on-year and 24 per cent up on 2019). Having raised £22m of new equity in March 2020, the group has invested the capital in service for future growth through a range of innovations.

The board anticipates underlying pre-tax profit will be higher than its previous expectations – preliminary results are scheduled for September 28.
