Leading logistics firm chooses Cambridge for major growth blueprint

One of the fastest growing logistics operators has chosen Cambridge as the location for a new sales branch.
Europa Worldwide Group has announced a half million-pound investment in increasing its UK European road freight sales network delivered through its Europa Road division. Europa Worldwide Group has five divisions – Europa Road, Europa Air & Sea, Europa Warehouse, Europa Contact Centre and Continental Cargo Carriers.
The company was recently featured in The Sunday Times Top Track 250 for the third time and employs over 1,100 people across the UK and Hong Kong. Europa has an existing turnover of £260 million but expects to increase that to £300m in 2022.
The Europa Road division provides market leading European road freight services, operating the UK’s largest European groupage hub which is situated in Dartford. Its network of 13 UK branches trunk into Dartford from where freight connects with daily, direct services to 30 continental hubs.
In its 50 plus year history, the business has never had a presence in Cambridge and has chosen the city after a substantial amount of research into suitable locations to expand into.
There are currently no other Europa Road sites in the East of England region, making it an area of immense growth potential.
Europa was particularly attracted to Cambridge because of its robust local economy, which generates £23.7 billion of national output and has seen employment levels growing consistently by 3.3 per cent in recent years. Europa will open the new sales branch on May 1, initially with a team of five, which it expects to double.
Adrian Redmile, branch network and sales director, says: “It’s an extremely exciting time for Europa and we’re delighted to be launching in Cambridge very soon.
“Enhancing our sales network is an important part of our national strategy to fill the gaps and thus increase our footprint across the country.”
“Having a local team means we will be able to support Cambridge’s growing supply chain and support them with import and export – specifically on our pan European daily services.”
