Kelly Vickers, managing director of Conference Cambridge

Conference business has reached a record high in the Cambridge UK technology heartland.

Conference Cambridge, which corals trade for the university, its colleges and other historic venues in the city, fielded 3,302 enquiries worth £25 million in 2014. That was 600 more enquiries than the previous year.

The latest figures released by Conference Cambridge break all previous records in its 16-year history, representing a 20 per cent increase in the volume of enquiries.

Of these, 1040 bookings were confirmed worth £4.8m, versus 931 bookings worth £4.4m in 2013. This means that out of the total number of enquiries, 32 per cent have completed and a further £570k of revenue is still provisionally booked.

Kelly Vickers, managing director of Conference Cambridge said: “2014 was definitely our busiest year to date and we are delighted with these latest figures which break all records for us.

“This underlines Cambridge’s appeal as a location for events of all types including larger scale gatherings which can benefit from using multiple venues.

“Cambridge offers a unique experience, with venues ranging from historic oak-panelled rooms through to stunning contemporary settings so there’s something to suit every type of event. There are also amazing opportunities for social activities such as punting on the River Cam, enjoying a walking tour around the Colleges or taking in one of our member museums at a private drinks reception.”

Conference Cambridge has over 50 different venues in its portfolio.
